The Story Behind Bold Runners

Bold Runners is founded by Tisja van den Brink.

The brand emerged from a personal fascination with colour, material and the role of textiles within a space. What started as an intuitive exploration grew into a collection of stair runners defined by character, craftsmanship and a refined use of colour.

Founded in 2025, the brand collaborates with specialized weaving and tufting ateliers in India, where traditional craftsmanship and careful attention to detail form the foundation of each piece. These partnerships allow designs to be translated into runners that balance time-honoured techniques with a contemporary sensibility.

Materials and colour lie at the heart of every design. Only high-quality wool is used, combined with natural pigments selected for their depth, nuance and minimal impact on both people and environment.

Each piece embraces the beauty of the handmade process. Subtle irregularities, hand-finished details and natural variations are not imperfections, but signatures of craftsmanship — reflecting a belief that true beauty lies in authenticity, care and intention.

With a background in nursing, alongside experience in interior styling and creative practice — including the development of a lighting brand — the studio is shaped by both precision and intuition. Alongside building Bold Runners, Tisja continues to work in healthcare, maintaining a close connection to care, attention and the human aspect of her work.

A quiet but constant source of inspiration lies in the creative exchange with her sister, Tessie — whose intuitive sense of colour and design continues to influence the direction of each collection.

What started as a personal need is gradually evolving into a collection of runners for interiors that value warmth, individuality and thoughtful design.
